Age group: 4-8 years old

In “Long May She Wave: The True Story of Caroline Pickersgill and Her Star-Spangled Creation,” kids will discover the story of a girl who sewed the American flag that inspired the “National Anthem” lyrics. Pickersgill, who came from a family of flag-makers in Baltimore, helped stitch the flag that flew over Fort McHenry. The story also weaves in events on Sept. 12, 1814, when the British attacked Baltimore, sharing an additional piece of history with readers.
