NEW BRITIAN, CT (WFSB) –

A retired CCSU professor was arrested after an accident involving a student that happened at the university’s theater.

CCSU President Zulma Toro sent an email to the school saying that Thomas Callery turned himself into the CCSU Police Department on Thursday.

There was a warrant out for his arrest.

The charges stem from an accident in the Maloney Hall’s Black Box Theater on March 28 that involved a student.

Callery was placed on administrative leave after the incident.

Before the investigation was completed, Callery retired.

Callery was charged with interfering with a police officer and reckless endangerment.

The university has not released any additional information, stating that it is a pending legal matter.

Callery was released on a $10,000 bond and will be in court on July 26.
