Big E opens today

Massachusetts’ state fair – The Eastern States Exposition, fondly known as The Big E – is back starting Friday, Sept. 14, ushering in 17 days of classic entertainment, circus acts, exhibits, delicious fair foods, rides, horse and car shows, agricultural fairs – including the popular 600-pound butter sculpture, shopping and more. The exposition runs through Sunday, Sept. 30 and this year offers more entertainment than ever. Just some of the musical acts are the Marshall Tucker Band and Hanson (Sept. 14), Reel Big Fish (Sept. 14); Tony Orlando (Sept. 17-18); B.B. King’s Blues Band featuring Tito Jackson (Sept. 21); Ice-T (Sept.22); The Beach Boys (Sept. 30); and many more. The Big E takes place at the Eastern States Exposition fairgrounds, 1305 Memorial Ave., West Springfield. Regular gate admission is $15 adults, $10 for children 6-12, free for 5 and under.
